BUSINESS LITIGATION & PLANNING

Texas Commercial Tax Planning and Economic Development Attorneys

Litigation and Appeals

The Cox Law Firm attorneys understand that business disputes are costly, but that sometimes litigation is necessary. Our attorneys are committed to helping clients make decisions that are in their company’s best interest, whether that means early settlement or litigating through trial and appeal. With decades of combined litigation experience, our attorneys have the courtroom skill and business acumen to help clients navigate any litigation scenario.

A ruling at the trial court level may not be the end of the line. In most cases, a losing party may appeal a trial court’s ruling. But a successful appeal requires an effective combination of foresight, strategy, and advocacy skills. The attorneys at The Cox Law Firm have a broad range of experience in identifying appellate issues, crafting an appeal strategy, drafting briefs, and presenting oral argument before the court. In addition to post-trial appeals, our attorneys have experience initiating and pursuing original appellate proceedings (e.g., mandamus), interlocutory appeals, and motions for emergency appellate relief.

Domestic and International Business Planning

The attorneys at The Cox Law Firm represent individuals and businesses looking to start or grow their domestic or international business. We help our clients navigate the murky waters of entity formation, business planning, corporate structure, asset purchase agreements, contract guidance, international transactions, and more. Our firm has particular expertise with international trade matters. Our attorneys have extensive experience handling import and export matters before U.S. Customs, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office. Sam C. Webb has advised companies on the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, Section 232 and 301 tariffs, and Customs Ruling Requests. Mr. Webb has particular expertise in the U.S. Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) program. FTZs are geographic areas designated by the United States federal government as outside the United States Customs territory. FTZs provide import duty and excise tax benefits to users and exempt imported tangible personal property and tangible personal property held for export from ad valorem taxation. Our firm has extensive experience with the application, activation, and maintenance of FTZ Subzones and Usage-Driven Sites.
